About Me

I am Ester Lou, a Caribbean-American writer and producer. After growing up in Houston, attending Florida A&M University and living in Brooklyn, I developed a passion for telling stories that expand the spectrum of black women and men on screen.

My career began on FOX’s critically acclaimed sports drama PITCH, after winning the FOX WRITERS INTENSIVE in 2016. Since then, I’ve enjoyed writing for a variety of genres including the music-driven STAR (FOX) with Lee Daniels, the crime dramedy GOOD GIRLS (NBC) and on my first comedy, as a Supervising Producer on the highly anticipated second season of RUN THE WORLD (STARZ.) I’m currently working as a Co-Executive Producer on an exciting yet-to-be-announced collaboration between Kenya Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society and BET+ Studios.

A few highlights in my career include getting Don Cheadle coffee as a writers’ PA on HOUSE OF LIES, shooting on an iconic set from BOOMERANG in NYC and being a part of the Hollywood Reporter’s largest photoshoot featuring nearly 70 black female writers in 2019.

I live in Los Angeles, where I enjoy taking any dancehall class, getting lost while hiking and reading several books at a time. And when I’m not on set or in a writers’ room, I put in work on my collection of short stories.
