Culture is like a train.
At some point, everyone is at the front of the train. You’re at the front of the train when you’re young, your desires, your interests set the pace and the direction of the culture. But at some point in adulthood, and it happens at a different time for everybody, you get off the train. Now almost everyone gets back on the train, but you’re never at the front of the train again and that’s when you realize that culture is moving at pace and a direction that you have no control over.
It is a weird feeling to realize that you are no longer at the front of the train.
